Muhammad Usman Naeem
Muhammad Usman Naeem is a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Economics at Harvard University and a Ph.D. candidate in Economics and Public Policy at Tufts University.
His research sits at the intersection of development, environmental, and behavioral economics, with a particular focus on how behavioral frictions, incentives, and policy design influence energy use, emissions, and household welfare in low- and middle-income countries. Through partnerships with government agencies and private-sector organizations in Pakistan, he employs field experiments and administrative data to study the effectiveness of policies aimed at improving economic and environmental outcomes.
Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, Muhammad served as a Country Economist at the International Growth Centre, where he contributed to research and policy initiatives focused on economic development.
His work seeks to generate evidence that informs the design of policies capable of promoting sustainable development while improving the well-being of households in emerging economies.
