Rebecca Diamond, Gita Gopinath, Daniel Graves, Lea Nagel, and Rahul Singh join (and re-join) the faculty of the Department of Economics.

Rebecca Diamond, Martin Feldstein Professor of Economics**Rebecca Diamond** joins the economics department as the first Martin Feldstein Professor of Economics. Her path-breaking research on housing, labor markets, and health, and her commitment to teaching and mentorship, will help keep Martin Feldstein’s legacy thriving at Harvard.

She graduated from Yale University in 2007 with a BS in Physics, and Economics and Mathematics, worked for a year as an analyst for Goldman Sachs Asset Management, then began graduate study at Harvard University where she earned an MA in economics in 2011 and a PhD in economics in 2013. She was the Class of 1988 Professor of Economics at Stanford Graduate School of Business before joining the Harvard faculty this September.

Gita Gopinath, Gregory and Ania Coffey Professor of Economics **Gita Gopinath** returns to Harvard as the Gregory and Ania Coffey Professor of Economics at Harvard University. Her research focuses on international finance and macroeconomics. She served as the first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from January 2022 until August 2025—prior to that, she was the IMF’s chief economist from 2019 to 2022—after a long academic career as the John Zwaanstra Professor of International Studies and Economics at Harvard University (2005–2022) and before that as an assistant professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

She earned her PhD in Economics from Princeton University (2001), holds MA degrees from Delhi School of Economics and the University of Washington, as well as a BA from Lady Shri Ram College (New Delhi), and is a leading voice on dollar dominance, exchange rates, trade and investment, international financial crises, monetary policy and debt.

Daniel Graves, Assistant Professor of Economics**Daniel Graves** is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Harvard University, specializing in asset pricing, behavioral finance, and household finance. He earned his PhD from Yale University in 2025 after completing his undergraduate studies in math and economics there, followed by more than a decade working in quantitative finance.

Lea Nagel, Assistant Professor of Economics**Lea Nagel** is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Harvard University working on economic theory and behavioral and experimental economics. She earned her PhD from Stanford University in 2025, after completing an MS at the London School of Economics and a BS in economics at the Humboldt University of Berlin.

**Rahul Singh** is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Harvard University. His research interests are econometrics, causal inference, and machine learning. He received his PhD in Economics and Statistics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2023. Immediately following, he was a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows.
