The Econometric Society has announced the [election](https://www.econometricsociety.org/content/econometric-society-pleased-announce-election-22-new-fellows) of 22 new fellows. The [Econometric Society](https://www.econometricsociety.org/) is an International Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory in its Relation to Statistics and Mathematics.

 [Gita Gopinath](https://scholar.harvard.edu/gopinath) is John Zwaanstra Professor of International Studies and of Economics at Harvard University. Her research focuses on International Finance and Macroeconomics. She was recently [appointed](https://economics.harvard.edu/news/gita-gopinath-appointed-chief-economist-international-monetary-fund) as the Chief Economist at the IMF to begin in January 2019.
