Fall 2026 Term Key Dates for Economics Concentrators

August 24: Open add/drop begins. Instructor permission not needed to enroll (unless the course requires instructor permission)

August 27: Advising Office Hours open (Zoom only until August 31)

September 2: Fall term begins

September 2: Econ 985 seminars begin. You should attend your Econ 985 seminar even if you do not yet have a thesis advisor.

September 9: Last day to add a course without instructor permission (unless the course requires instructor permission)

September 21: Third Monday.Last day to add/drop courses or change grading option (without a fee)

October 5: Fifth Monday.Last day to add/drop courses or change your grading option (with a fee)

October 5: Thesis registration forms due by 5pm to Justine Johnson, Littauer 112 (or to econundergrad@fas.harvard.edu). If you do not have a thesis advisor by this date, you must drop the thesis and Econ 985.

October 9: Deadline to declare a concentration. To declare Economics, please see the declaration instructions here. There are three steps to declaring!

November 4: Course registration for Spring 2027 begins

November 16: Last day to withdraw from a Fall 2026 course. Last day to change the grading basis of a course

November 18: Course registration for Spring 2027 closes

November 23: All Econ 990 theses must be submitted by 4pm 

December 4: Last day of Fall term classes

December 9: Last Day of Reading Period

December 19: Last day of Exams. Also, we encourage Seniors to declare their Economics track with their Ec Advisor: Basic, Advanced Course Track (ACT), Thesis.
