Undergraduate Office

Welcome to the undergraduate program of the Department of Economics at Harvard University. This site contains a wealth of information relevant to all aspects of the undergraduate concentration at Harvard. Please visit it early and often for answers to your many questions about concentration requirements, important dates, job/publishing/funding opportunities, honors, departmental theses, advising, course listings, STATA help, and more.

The Department offers both a primary concentration and a secondary field in economics. In recent years Economics has been the largest concentration at Harvard, and initial returns suggest the secondary field will be popular as well. The Department also offers Social Analysis 10, Principles of Economics, where many students beyond our primary and secondary concentrators gain an introduction to economics.

We hope that this web site provides answers to most of your questions, but we encourage you to visit the Department for a more personal touch. Advisors are available in Littauer 111 every day between 10 AM and 4 PM, and you can also contact them by e-mail (their names, email addresses, and office hours are posted here under Advising). You should also feel free to contact the Undergraduate Program Administrator, Emily Neill, (eneill@fas.harvard.edu), or the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Jeffrey A. Miron (miron@fas.harvard.edu). We are always here to help orient you to the department or guide you once you are here.

We hope to see and hear from you often over the course of the year!

* Attention Undergrads! Please do not set your FAS e-mail account to forward to your GMAIL account or all of your e-mails from the department will end up in your SPAM box.
