Harvard University Economics Ranked First by QS World University Rankings and Tilburg University Top 100 Economics Schools for 2011

The Harvard University Department of Economics has ranked at the top among university programs in Economics in a global survey by QS World University Rankings and in the Tilburg University Top 100 of Economics Schools Research Rankings for 2011.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings are determined by using six criteria: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty student ratio, citations per faculty, number of international faculty members, and number of international students. These criteria are scored using a global survey of academics and employers, Elsevier’s Scopus database, and data provided by the universities themselves.  The ranking methodology is explained here.  Harvard University's Economics Department scored at the top in academic, employer, and citation scores among leading university programs in the QS World University Rankings for Economics 2011.

Harvard's Economics Department also ranked first in the Tilburg University 100 Economics Schools Research Ranking 2011.  The Tilburg University Research Ranking is determined based on publications in a subset of 36 journals from a database of 68 leading journals in Econometrics, Economics and Finance and based on 2006-2010 data.  Harvard University scored at the top among these 100 Economics Schools using this measure.
